Broken Clock

I have come to the realization that the man inside my head whose job consists of controlling various time mechanisms in my brain, and who is sometimes referred to as my internal clock, has been, or possibly always was, decapitated.

For an extended period of time in my life, I considered his inability to complete simple tasks the bi product of a perpetual illness that he would eventually overcome. However, recent experience/wisdom in years has brought me to the realization that he never will, because he is, well, dead. Awesome.

Just three nights ago, I woke up at around 4 AM with an insatiable desire for a Taco Bell quesadilla. Realizing that I had just gone to bed 3 1/2 previous and IN 3 1/2 hours I was due for an appointment with my alarm clock; not to mention the fact that it was 4 AM and no semi-logical person is going to make a trip to Taco Bell at such an unholy hour, (are they even open that late?..early?) I attempted to drift back into dreamland. However, visions of tacos, burritos, and small, Hispanic chihuahuas continued to dance in my brain until approximately 6 AM. I woke up wanting ice cream.

This morning, my dear roommate, Brooke, woke up at 6:30AM. On an ordinary day, my alarm clock will go off at 7:30, and I will get up around 8:15 to get to work at 8:30. Today, when Brooke's phone started to sing 'everything' by Michael Buble, I squinched my eyes shut, fighting the urge to stay in bed. (Pointless effort, as I had no need to get up at 6:30.) I distinctly remember looking at the clock multiple times as I wrestled with myself, trying to get the last few minutes in like I always do. 6:40-- I pulled myself out of bed and proceeded to whine to Brooke about how difficult getting out of bed is. I then got in the shower, got dressed, and started to do my hair. This is when I looked at the clock again. 7:07.
"Wait, what the heck? Why do I have so much time..........freak."
Yeah.

My poor, poor decapitated-internal-clock man.

Fortunately for me, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

AAAA!!! That happened to me once. Except that I woke up 30 minutes after going to bed. I felt like a loser, but it also felt nice because I had a whole night of sleep ahead of me!
